JON Appleyard backed up his recent victory in the Corley Cycles Summer Series with another medal in the latest round of the event.

The Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club rider took part in the men’s category four race at the MK Bowl, where he crossed the line in third after finishing in the leading pack of riders.

Victory gives Appleyard enough points to now rank as a category three rider.

Elsewhere in the women’s race, Frances Lammyman took a fourth place in her maiden bike race, riding strongly throughout and staying in touch with the leaders until the very end.

The trio of Gerard Scott, Denis Zaboronsky and Emile Glorieux lined up for their category three and four race full of determination to go one better than the previous week.

An opening half to the race that went without much incident soon burst into life when four tight turns introduced in the second half broke apart the main section of riders.

Scott, feeling fatigue from a 200-mile race the previous weekend, and Zaboronsky, experiencing a mechanical issue with his bike, were two of the riders most affected by the change in pace.

They finished towards the front of the second pack of riders, with Zaboronsky finishing 20th, Scott coming home in 22nd.

Glorieux meanwhile had managed to find himself in the midst of the front group of riders, finishing in 13th.
