FOOTBALL - Racing Club Warwick continue fine form with win at Wolverhampton Casuals

Leamington Editorial 8th Mar, 2022   0

RACING CLUB WARWICK claimed a third win in four matches after easing to a 2-0 victory against relegation threatened Wolverhampton Casuals.

First-half goals from Hanibal Sallami and Romario Martin were enough to secure the points at Brinsford Stadium.

The result means Warwick now sit 14th in the Midland Football League Premier Division table, some 13 points clear of the relegation zone.

Racing were without Ricardo Dudley and Dan Kavanagh whilst youth graduate Connor Mort was handed a first start for the club.

And Warwick started brightly when Sallami fired over from Chris Mayuba’s delivery.

Sallami then opened the scoring on 26 minutes when he jinked past two defenders before his deflected effort found the net from Mort’s pass.

And the tricky forward almost doubled his tally for the game when he ghosted past two players before his shot was well-saved by the Wolverhampton goalkeeper.

The Racers eventually found a second goal on 32 minutes when Martin fired home from 18-yards out after Eli Bako had won the ball back in a dangerous position.

Warwick had chances to put the game to bed in the second half with Sallami hitting the post and Josh Parsons forcing the home goalkeeper into a fine save.

Racing are next in action away at Worcester City on Saturday, March 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Claines Lane.
