LEAMINGTON Spa’s Lauren Cox has been named in Team England’s swimming squad for this summer’s Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Cox, who studies at Loughborough University, was named in the squad along with 37 other athletes to complete a 48-strong squad that will compete in the Games this summer.
The 20-year-old, who specialises in backstroke, previously represented Team GB at the European Junior Championships in 2018 and took part in the British Championships last month.
Cox won gold in the Women’s Open 50m Backstroke event after placing second in the Open 100m race.
The swimming event at the Games takes place at Sandwell Aquatics Centre from July 29 to August 3.
