AN ALBUM which has been years in the making is set to be released by Leamington rockers Luna Kiss.

The quintent, who studied music at Warwickshire and Stratford Colleges, are set to launch their latest offering Following Shadows at the Zephyr Lounge on Friday July 6.

The first single ‘You Are’ has already had airtime on the likes of Radio One and their video for the song features on the Kerrang website.

Lead singer and guitarist Wil Russell, who hails from Lillington, said: “Our last album was six years ago and we were kids. It was our training ground but we’ve moved on, we’ve evolved and this new album is something we’re genuinely all proud of.

“We finally arrived at a sound we all really feel passionate and excited about. Our tastes are very broad. We all grew up on alternative rock but there’s electronic, indie and pop music in there too.”

The band recently returned from a tour across Europe which saw them play in small towns to major festivals in ampitheatres.

And former Princethorpe pupil Wil says they are looking forward to a gig on home turf showcasing some of their new music.

The 27-year-old said: “Our live shows are very dramatic, energetic and creative, and that’s an extension of what you can hear on this album.

“We’ve toured through Europe playing lots of different venues and it’s all really helped us to explore and challenge our sound.

“Following Shadows is the record we wanted to make and we’re all really proud of what we created. We’re looking forward to sharing it with everyone.”

The gig will include support by Leamington band The Ellipsis and Coventry musicians Free Galaxy.

Tickets cost £5 and the show starts at 7.30pm.
