THE £22MILLION Station Approach housing project has won a building excellence award.

The homes and apartments were built by developers AC Lloyd for Platform Housing Group in partnership with Warwick District Council.

Construction director Dave Henley and site managers David Pearson, Chris Hill and Steve Lydall led the 30 month building development.

And it saw the company voted winner of the Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development in the West Midlands in the Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards 2020.

AC Lloyd managing director Alistair Clark said: “Dave, David, Chris and Steve fully deserve to be recognised for the integral role they played during the creation of the development.

“It wasn’t always straight-forward since we were dealing with a site that dated back 400 years.

“There were old platforms that needed to be carefully removed from the old Leamington railway station, metal sheet pilings to be installed near the current station and a traffic management plan to be written which was vital at the start when Stagecoach’s day and night depot was still in operation for eight months before their move to a new HQ.

“From the outset, we wanted to create a landmark building and we believe that goal has been achieved.

“The fruits of our labour will be seen when Leamington hosts the lawn bowls and para bowls next year during the Commonwealth Games with Station Approach being among the first buildings which visitors from across the globe will see when they arrive.

“Everyone involved in building Station Approach is rightly proud to have received this recognition.”
