A BUDDING carpenter named Student of the Year at Moreton Morrell College is hoping to be a chip off the old block.
Liam Dilworth, from Stratford, who studies on the carpentry and joinery was also awarded carpentry student of the year.
Alongside his studies, the 20-year-old improved his skills through extra-curriculum pursuits creating resin tables which were sold as part of a raffle at the college’s annual lambing weekend and also by building a beehive now situated in the college grounds.
Liam was also commended for his coursework and plans to go into the construction industry when he completes his studies.
He said “My uncle has been a carpenter since I was a child and I have always enjoyed hearing about his projects.
“Members of my wider family also work in construction, and they have been really supportive of my studies, so I am excited to carry on their legacy in the industry.”
A total of 36 awards were presented at the awards evening.
