Adult literacy charity embarks on new chapter in south Warwickshire

AN ADULT literacy charity is embarking on a new chapter in Leamington.

Read Easy Mid Warwickshire is launching at Leamington library on Saturday (June 24).

Members of the Mid Warwickshire team will be in the library, based at the Royal Pump Rooms, from 10am until 3.30pm to give out information about the charity and answer questions.

It will be an opportunity for people to learn about the new group and the unique service which it will be providing.

Read Easy Mid Warwickshire team leader Vicky Fletcher said: “I’m thrilled that Read Easy Mid Warwickshire is now ready to start coaching local adults looking to develop their reading skills. We have recruited a fantastic, friendly team of volunteers and are taking on volunteer reading coaches who can provide life-changing help with reading, completely free of charge and on a one-to-one basis.

“If you would like to find out more, either about developing reading skills, or getting involved in helping the team, we would love to see you – so please come along and say hello.”

Warwickshire County Councillor Bill Gifford added: “Read Easy Mid Warwickshire are providing a vital service for the community. Literacy gives people massively increased self-confidence. It is also a proven path out of poverty and to better health. All this helps people gain the employment opportunities they might otherwise not get. It is one of the few things in life that really helps anyone work, rest, and play.”
