Affordable homes get the go-ahead

PLANS for a number of affordable homes in Leamington have been given the green light.

Eighteen new houses will be built on the former Dairy Crest site, which borders Quarry Street and Old Milverton Road.

A previous application proposed that just 40% of the homes would fall under the ‘affordable’ category, but a revised plan means all 18 would be for sale at below market price to households whose needs are not met by the market.

Warwick District Council spokesman Coun Alan Rhead said: “With house prices in Warwick district higher than the national average, I am delighted that the council has come to the decision to make these new homes affordable.

“Their location in close proximity to both Leamington and Warwick will make these properties an ideal choice for families and young people wanting to stay in or move into the area.”
