All paws on deck for new Pump Rooms attraction

Leamington Editorial 27th Jul, 2017   0

FAMILIES visiting Leamington Art Gallery & Museum will encounter an unusual tour guide this summer.

Boss Cat, a one-eyed kitty who lived in the Pump Rooms many moons ago, will be on hand to lead young visitors around the museum in a new audio experience.

He’s on the prowl for a missing painting moved by mischievous mice, and needs help to find it.

As visitors try to solve a number of clues, they get to explore the museum and take part in different activities along the way.

Funding for the project came from West Midlands Museum Development and the bespoke digital technology was designed by experimental game designer John Sear.

Curator Alice Swatton knew just who to call when it came to finding a voice for Boss. Her 12-year old brother Luca Aird from Leamington was more than happy to lend a hand to help the cat come to life.

The launch of the new audio tour marks the 50th anniversary of Friends of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum (FLAG).

The guide will highlight works in the collection which FLAG have helped purchase and also touches upon work that goes on behind the scenes.
