Are you interested in becoming a councillor for Warwick district?

INFORMATION sessions are being held in Warwick district for anyone interested in becoming a councillor.

Warwick District Council is holding the sessions ahead of the local government elections in May 2023.

WDC provides a wide variety of local government services including refuse and recycling collections, planning, licensing and parks and open spaces. Councillors have a wide range of functions including setting the budget, agreeing policies and strategies, providing scrutiny and representing the needs of residents living in their ward.

WDC Chief Executive Chris Elliot said: “Becoming a councillor is a rewarding form of public service that puts people in a position where they can make a difference to the quality of someone’s daily life.

However, being a councillor is also a lot of hard work, with the needs and interests of many different people needing to be balanced.

“These sessions provide prospective candidates with all they need to know about the role of a district councillor. If you’re interested, please do come along to find out more.”

An online session via Microsoft Teams is being held on January 16 at 6pm. A further in-person session is being held at Leamington Town Hall on January 25 at 6pm.
