YOUTH theatre Arts Insight is preparing to celebrate its first year at The Loft in Leamington in song.
Two casts, made up of 60 young performers from across Warwickshire, will present The Battle of the Big Top, an original musical written and directed by Arts Insight artistic director, Laura Berridge, from August 3 to 7.
When two young siblings visit the circus, what they see is not what they were expecting.
Set in the vibrant world of a Big Top, the show follows the siblings’ journey as they observe the obstacles and difficulties people from different backgrounds and with varying beliefs face, as they are forced to co-exist in the same environment.
Can the siblings help the ringmasters save their beloved circus by teaching everyone to follow the code of resepct? Will they ever be able to celebrate each other’s differences and learn to co-exist harmoniously, or will the acts remain fractured and cause the circus to topple.
Laura said: “I don’t think there has ever been a more important time to tell a story about acceptance, unity and respect – told from the mouths of the next generation.
“I am so excited to prove that the age of the performers doesn’t limit the standard of the production. This is going to be a spectacular show that people of all ages will not want to miss.”
Arts Insight patron, Katie Posner added: “I am always impressed to see the outstanding work that Arts Insight provides for young people.
“The Battle of the Big Top is their most ambitious show yet. I know that the audiences are going to be delighted by the extraordinary talent that Laura and her creative team will nurture. They always empower young people to perform to exceptional standards and I cannot wait to see what everyone achieves.
