Arty Warwick youngsters showcase their skills

Leamington Editorial 27th Jun, 2017   0

ARTISTIC youngsters in Warwick have been showing off their talents.

Judging has taken place at a three-week exhibition of school art at St Mary’s Church featuring work from 12 schools in the town.

The exhibition, which ends on July 2, is sponsored by St Mary’s Hall Trust, whose chairman, Richard Thornton, said: “This exhibition has become ever more successful. We have been told that no other town promotes a similar event that offers a comparable public platform for the display of works of art produced in its schools.

“We are privileged again that this exhibition is being staged at St Mary’s Church during the town’s annual Music Festival, when the church is visited by thousands of people and provides the ideal backdrop to exhibition.

“This year, the judges – Richard Yeomans and Philip Toole, both prominent artists – welcomed a greater proportion of individual work by younger children, giving pupils a greater opportunity to produce their potential creativity at an early age.”

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by prize-winners and their art teachers. Winners received gift tokens and also cheques for their school’s art department.
