Australia and England to go head-to-head in Victoria Park

FOLLOWING England’s dramatic world cup win at the weekend the nation’s cricketers are preparing to take on the Australians in The Ashes starting next month.

But the two rival countries will be going head to head before that on the bowling greens of Leamington this weekend.

It will be the second consecutive year the Aussie “Jackaroos” have visited the Victoria Park greens – which will be hosting the bowls competition during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – demonstrating just how seriously they are taking preparations for 2022.

Both the bowls and para bowls teams will be in action on Saturday (sessions 10am, 1.15pm, and 4pm sessions), and Sunday

(10am, 2pm, and 4pm sessions).

Warwick District Council culture spokeswoman Coun Moira-Ann Grainger said: “We are very pleased to once again welcome Bowls Australia to Victoria Park and hope the teams are enjoying some exciting, yet friendly competition.

“The timing of this visit is perfect as it comes just days before Warwick district’s ‘three years to go’ countdown to the Commonwealth Games on July 27, which is being celebrated in Warwick, with a family fun event at St John’s Museum and St Nicholas Park.”
