FIFTY-seven years after Allan Jennings left Shrubland Street School, he returned to present current headteacher Jonathan Wright with two copies of his new book ‘Shrubland Street Royal Leamington Spa – A street, a school, a real community’.
The local historian said: “Like many others, I enjoyed my time at ‘Shrubs’ and it is a real pleasure to be able to come back now and present the school with my book on the history of the street and the school. I hope that it will become a valuable resource that teachers can use for local history lessons with the children.”
Jonathan thanked Allan, adding: “It has been great to see the book in print and I am looking forward to being able to use it to find out about the history of the school and the local community.”
Allan will be at the Plough & Harrow pub Whitnash on Friday July 16 from 2pm to 4pm and Monday July 19, from the same time, for people to buy signed copies of the book. Following the launch, the books will be on sale at Waterstone’s Leamington and Warwick Books.
