Battle of Waterloo commemorated at Leamington Pump Rooms

THE 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo was commemorated at Leamington Pump Rooms over the weekend.

The mini festival of heritage and culture – organised by Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum and Heritage Matters – included everything from music and dancing, to talks and medal and military hat making.

The Duke of Wellington and Napoleon avoided coming to blows this time as young and old alike got a chance to find out more about the Napoleonic Wars which took place during Leamington’s Regency heyday.

Four of Leamington’s Masters of Ceremony in the years after Waterloo had actually served as army officers during the Napoleonic Wars.
