Belly dancing is ageless says Leamington teacher

AGE is just a number at a Leamington dance class.

Belly dancing teacher Vicky Harris is eager to get women to let the music move them – no matter what their age or ability.

The 63-year-old set up fun belly dancing classes in January at Leamington’s Liberal Club on Upper Holly Walk with participants ranging from 23 to 75 years-of-age.

And Vicky, who works at the Wedding Barn in Ufton when not dancing, is hoping more women will be tempted to give belly dancing a go.

Even after two knee operations and major spinal surgery which could have put her in a wheelchair, the mum-of-one could not imagine not dancing after a lifetime doing so.

She told the Observer: “I just want women to have a good time dancing. There’s a great atmosphere and it’s great to see the ladies, no matter what their age, getting stuck in.”

Classes cost £3.50 each and are all about having fun.
