Best foot forward for annual hospital Sky Walk

FORMER patients are being urged to join the orthopeadic team at Warwick Hospital on the annual charity Sky Walk.

The walk, at Warwick Racecourse on June 23, is aimed at former orthopeadic patients, but anyone is welcome to join the one-mile walk.

It recognises the care the team give to those requiring surgery and the help they give patients to get back on their feet.

Paul Saunders, South Warwickshire Accelerated Transfer Team (SWATT) clinical lead at Warwick Hospital, said: “We would like to invite everyone who has been under the care of our orthopaedic department, either due to elective hip, knee and shoulder surgery or following the break of a bone to our annual Sky Walk.

“We are also encouraging their family and friends to join us and walk a sponsored ‘mile with a smile’, whilst raising money for the official NHS charity of South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, as well as bringing together our local community.

“The money raised will go towards valuable equipment that goes beyond the NHS standard, to enhance patient care, vital research, and the development of our junior medical and orthopaedic nursing team.”

The event will also feature fundraising stalls and a bouncy castle for children.
