WHITNASH is looking much cleaner this week after volunteers spent the weekend getting their hands dirty.
New Mayor, Simon Button was joined by his predecessor, Coun Judy Falp, and a host of volunteers for the Whitnash Big Tidy Up on Saturday.
Armed with litter pickers and bin bags, the group descended upon Washbourne Field and Acre Close Fields – filling several bags worth of bottles, tins, sweet and crisp wrappers, and other general litter from both parks.
Coun Button said: “The town’s groundsman already do an excellent job week in and week out maintaining the parks, but this event was just designed to be an extra clean up.
“We were able to pick up litter that had got caught deep in the undergrowth around both Washbourne Field and Acre Close Field and fortunately the rain stayed away making it a lot more enjoyable.
“I would like to thank all the residents, children and councillors who gave up their time and came along to help out.”
