Big Victorian Picnic to return

Ian Hughes 9th Jul, 2019   0

THE BIG Victorian Picnic will be taking place in Leamington’s Pump Room Gardens on Saturday July 27.

The celebration to mark the recent completion of the historic gardens and bandstand had to be postponed last month due to a great British summer downpour.

Warwick District Council is hoping it will be second time lucky and the sun will make an appearance encouraging residents to enjoy a packed programme of entertainment and activities.

Once again there will be an emphasis on locally grown talent with live performances on the bandstand from Joe Dolman, BlindFaith, Chris Jenner Jones, Alex Clay, Jessica Rhodes, Kitty Von Mew and Levi Washington.

There will also be Victorian-fete style activities such as hoola-hoops and parlour games, a stilt walker, policeman and Penny Farthing, together with themed crafts, food and drink, and even a dog show.

District neighbourhood services spokesman David Norris said: “Following the disappointment of cancelling the event due to the weather, we are very pleased to be able to reschedule this celebration to mark everything we have achieved in returning the Pump Room Gardens back to its rightful place in the centre of our local community.”

The picnic runs from 11am to 3pm and admission is free.
