CYCLING road racing for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held in Warwick.

St Nicholas Park will host the start and finish of the race, which will see around 160 cyclists from across the commonwealth take part in two road race events.

The route for the men’s and women’s races has not yet been finalised.

A Commonweath Games spokesman said: “St Nicholas Park, situated in Warwick town centre, and set in 64 acres of stunning landscape, with views of the world-famous Warwick Castle, will provide a picturesque backdrop for the men’s and women’s races.

“Spectators will be able to line the route of the road race, giving local people and visitors to each location a fabulous opportunity to view the drama of the races as they unfold.”

Also taking place in the district as part of the games will be the lawn bowls and para bowls competitions.

They will be held at Victoria Park in Leamington.
