BMW stolen by car seller near Ryton

DEVIOUS thieves ambushed the occupants of a BMW and stole it after luring them to buy a new car near Ryton.

The BMW owner had arranged to meet a supposed car seller in Freeboard Lane just off the A45 around 2pm on Tuesday (September 13).

But when they arrived two vehicles – believed to be a dark-coloured car and a green Toyota 4×4 – stopped and four men got out.

They took the BMW and drove away in all three cars having also taken cash intended for the arranged car sale.

Nobody was injured.

The green 4×4 was found burnt-out and abandoned close to Blooms Garden Centre in the Straight Mile area shortly afterwards.

DC Sam Coleman of Warwickshire Police said: “I would like to reassure the community incidents such as this are very rare and thankfully, nobody was injured.

“We want to hear from anyone who saw any of the vehicles described above in the area at the time, or anyone seen acting suspiciously in the location of the abandoned car.

“I would also like to remind people to exercise caution when arranging to buy and sell motor vehicles.

“Always ensure you arrange to meet the other party at a location you are comfortable with – if not their home address then an area where other people will be – and never in a remote location.”

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
