Brakes fan set to get say at public debate

Leamington Editorial 13th Nov, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

FANS will have the chance to make their thoughts known during a public debate at Leamington Football Club.

Following its annual general meeting on Thursday November 27, The Brakes Trust will be opening up the floor to fans who can discuss their hopes, ambitions, concerns on the future of the club.

Taking place from 7.30pm at the New Windmill Ground clubhouse, the Trust hopes to engage fans of the club in a wide-ranging debate.

Speaking on behalf of the Trust, Nick Rogers said: “Recent articles in the press regarding a potential new ground have prompted debate, not just on fans forum The Banter but across Twitter, Facebook, and of course on the terraces.

“On the night we’ll be triggering discussion on a few choice topics but naturally we expect most discussion to revolve around a potential move.

“We’ll also be inviting representatives from Leamington FC and hopefully other parties from the wider community.”

Encouraging fans young and old and both Trust members and non-members, he added: “We’d like to see as many fans as possible to hear your views.

“If you’re the sort of person who doesn’t normally come along to events like this, please come to this one – we’d love the discussion to be as representative as possible.

“However things develop, the Trust will act upon the majority decision of its members so it’s important to remember if you are a Trust member you do have a voice in whatever happens.

“This meeting is the Trust’s next opportunity to engage with fans since the summer’s gypsy and traveller issue engagement, so let’s make it as constructive as possible.”
