British Motor Museum is top of the class

VISITORS to the British Motor Museum can learn a lot.

The Gaydon museum’s learning team has again won a highly coveted Sandford Award for Heritage Education. The award is an independent assessment of school curriculum-aligned learning with recognition given to informal learning such as family programmes and outreach. The aim is to encourage the development and maintenance of standards of education at heritage sites.

And the British Motor Museum is in good company as current holders of the award also include Stonehenge, Worcester Cathedral and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

The judge was very impressed by the learning programmes and resources on offer at the British Motor Museum. In particular he praised the “dynamic” learning offer which explored both the technical aspects and social history of the collection.

Claire Broader, learning and engagement officer at the British Motor Museum, said “We are absolutely delighted and proud to have once again won a prestigious Sandford Award. This is testament to the hard work and passion for learning demonstrated by the Learning Team”.
