A BLUNDERING bus driver got his double decker stuck after driving down a closed road in Kenilworth.

The number 11 bus became wedged on a traffic island during rush hour after the driver attempted a three-point turn down the closed road in New Street on Tuesday (October 31). It happened on the island next to Manor Road.

The some 30 passengers were forced to get off while the driver called for help, and both lanes of traffic were blocked for two hours.

To add insult to injury, on the side of the bus was the exclamation ‘Noooooooooooo’ emblazoned across an O2 mobile phone advert.

A spokesman for National Express said: “Due to the temporary closure of New Street in Kenilworth, service 11 is currently on diversion via Common Lane, Dalehouse Lane, Mill End, Stoneleigh Road and Albion Street.

“We are investigating this incident and apologise for any inconvenience caused to local residents on New Street.”
