BUSINESS leaders have praised the ambition of Warwick District Council, after it formally adopted its local plan.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce welcomed the decision to adopt the plan and said it created sound economic platform for the area.
Chamber vice president David Penn said: “It’s crucial as each area in Coventry and Warwickshire sets out their plans for the future that they not only provide space for housing to meet the demands of a growing population but set aside space for employment.
“Employment land is exactly what it says on the tin – it is space for businesses to grow, to invest and, crucially, create the jobs of the future. If we don’t have enough employment space, we are storing up problems for future generations.
“Warwick District Council has recognised this and has been ambitious in its plans to Go For Growth in their area, a message the Chamber has been advocating for well over 12 months.
“We are hearing across the Coventry and Warwickshire patch that some firms are struggling to secure the space they need to grow and it’s holding back their plans to grow their business – which is, clearly, bad news for our economy.
“So the fact that Warwick District Council has chosen to adopt its plan with sufficient space for employment is positive for that area – and it’s crucial that other parts of the region follow suit.”
