Businesses urged to donate time or money to Mencap

BUSINESSES are being urged to donate time or money to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.

Heart of England Mencap is contacting companies across Warwickshire in the hope of securing sponsorship and corporate support.

The charity works with more than 200 people across both Warwick and Stratford districts, offering a range of support – from residential care or respite facilities to supported living and empowering leisure and learning activities.

Fundraising Manager Cath Errington says: “We focus on an individual’s abilities and not their disabilities and that’s at the heart of everything we do.

“As a charity we are limited by money and resources and what we are saying to local companies is ‘could you help us to do even more in your community?’

“That could be by donating funds, services, goods or volunteers – and you’ll be making a very real difference to local lives. We work with more than 200 people, and each of those has a network of carers, family and friends. By supporting us, you can reach a huge number of people.”

Any level of support is greatly appreciated – from donating seeds for the charity’s allotments to providing a minibus to support a day at the seaside.

Companies are also asked to consider cash donations, encourage employees to fundraise for HofE Mencap, or volunteer for a day. Sponsorship opportunities are available too – to support transport or even the charity’s plans for a fleet of adapted bikes and a local track.
