Butcher delivers festive cheer to those suffering financially

A LOCAL butcher delivered some festive cheer after providing Christmas hampers to those struggling financially or in temporary accommodation.

Rowley’s Butchers contacted Warwick District Council’s housing team to offer to supply turkey crowns and other seasonal produce to families who would benefit from assistance this Christmas.

The hampers were delivered by the council’s ranger service.

Council housing spokesman Jan Matecki said: “Everyone at the council would like to send their heartfelt thanks to Rowley’s for this wonderful gesture. It’s great to see our community working together to offer this type of practical support, which I am sure brought some Christmas cheer to these families in a difficult year.”

Butcher Jamie Rowley said: “We are lucky that our business is well supported by the local community and we are grateful that this has continued throughout these difficult times.

“As Christmas approached I asked each of our customers who placed an order to donate £1 to help feed the people who would probably not be able to have the traditional Christmas dinner that most of us would enjoy. We got a great reaction and have been able to supply over 160 local families with a hamper containing a turkey crown, pigs in blankets and some homemade stuffing. This is something I will do every year from now on.”
