A TRADITIONAL red phonebox in Leamington is being given a new artistic lease of life.
The former call box on Clarendon Avenue has now been refurbished and restored ready to become a mini art galley housing artwork from local schools on a rota basis. It will be managed by the Friends of Christchurch Gardens.
One of two red phoneboxes on Clarendon Avenue owned by Leamington Town Council, its neighbour was repurposed to house a community defibrillator in 2017.
Leamington mayor Susan Rasmussen was on hand to present the key to the gallery phonebox to the chair of the Friends Louise Goold.
Coun Rasmussen said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to give this phonebox a new lease of life, providing a lively and well-used space in the heart of town and next to the much-loved Christchurch Gardens.”
