CANDLES are lighting up Shakespeare’s Birthplace in Stratford for festive tours.
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is opening up the bard’s home after hours to give visitors an insight into a Shakespearean Christmas.
They will be given mulled wine and no-heat digital candles before the candlelit tours get underway.
Live music will add to the festive atmosphere, while the guide recounts Tudor Christmas traditions and the history of the building that influenced the development of the young playwright.
SBT spokesperson Rachael North said: “After the success of last year, we are thrilled to welcome visitors back to the Birthplace for the special after-hours candlelit tours. The extended and updated tour provides guests more time to explore the historic house after hours, learn about age-old festive traditions, and rediscover those lost in history.’’
