Castle Farm demolition in Kenilworth underway

DEMOLITION of the Castle Farm recreation centre in Kenilworth is underway to make way for the start of the new leisure centre.

The work, which includes the clearance of the site, is expected to take approximately four weeks and will be undertaken by AR Demolition.

Michael Henderson, manging director MAR, said: “We are pleased to be involved in the enabling works for this new leisure centre for the area, preparing the old site for the next phase of development.”

In readiness for the demolition, contractors have removed materials, fixtures and fittings from inside the building, which will be recycled or reused where possible.

Warwick District Council (WDC) leader Andrew Day said: “We are delighted to have reached another milestone and are now looking forward to the commencement of construction of these wonderful new facilities in a matter of weeks.”

The multi-million WDC funded project will see a new leisure centre featuring a sports hall, 80 station gym and fitness centre as well as a new Scouts and Guides headquarters.

Contractual negotiations for the Abbey Fields Swimming Pool redevelopment plans are now at their final stages, with an announcement expected soon.
