THE OPENING of garden gates in Warwickshire in 2017 raised more than £65,000 for charity.
The National Gardens Scheme sees proud gardeners welcome visitors to enjoy the results of their horticultural labours in exchange for a donation which helps palliative care charities.
And 128 of Warwickshire’s garden owners gathered at Hill Close Gardens in Warwick to celebrate the last year’s record-breaking £3million national total.
Long-service awards were also handed out, including to Martin Taylor of Ilmington Manor whose family have been supporting the scheme for 71 years.
