Charity calls on support to end violence against women and children

A CHARITY seeking to end violence again women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo is looking for residents to help grant its Christmas wish.

Leamington-based Thare Machi Education (TME) is taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge running until Tuesday December 4 and is asking for as many donations as possible.

Between that time private sponsors have promised to double every pound given to the charity.

The money will go towards its new project helping vulnerable people in the south Kivu region, who are survivors of a long and brutal war but are still at risk of violence.

TME – which makes makes health and wellbeing lessons available online and on DVD which are used across the world – will supply those in the region with lessons on women’s rights and the prevention of violence.

Director Rachel Butt said: “It costs no more than £3.50 for TME to send out one lesson, and every lesson can be seen by hundreds of people, so every donation, no matter how small, will have a huge impact.”
