Charity shop 'with a difference' opens its doors

Leamington Editorial 28th Dec, 2020   0

A NEW charity shop ‘with a difference’ has opened its doors in Kenilworth.

The Samaritan’s Pre-Loved Emporium is now open in Millar Court.

It is run by Katie Best and Melissa Humphreys, who met while volunteering at another charity shop in the town and during lockdown came up with the idea for running a pre-loved boutique.

They found the premises which they have renovated, made disabled-friendly, and decorated themselves with the help of friends, family and donated fittings and furniture.

It sells designer, high end and vintage ladies, men’s and children’s clothing, accessories, jewellery and homeware.

Katie said: “We felt there was a niche in the market for a pre-loved boutique selling high quality and vintage items and we are hoping to make a lot of money for Samaritans. We wanted to support this charity as their volunteers do a fantastic job talking to callers who are in distress. All branches are receiving more calls than ever from people worried about the covid crisis and volunteers have been there to help people throughout the pandemic.”

The store was opened by Kenilworth mayor Richard Dickson who said the shop is a ‘great addition’ to the town.

It is open 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
