ARTISTS will be using Charlecote Park as their inspiration at a special open air event.
The artists, from Warwickshire Open Studios, have been invited to the National Trust property near Wellesbourne for a Plein Air event on Sunday September 17.
Visitors can watch the artists at work and chat to them about their motivation and techniques.
Artworks will then be displayed in a pop-up exhibition near the main house with the public encouraged to take part in the judging before getting an opportunity to buy some of the works created that day.
National Trust spokesperson Grace Monson said: “There’s inspiration in nature, beauty, and history for our visiting artists to tap in to at Charlecote. From breathtaking views across the river, to the Tudor brickwork in the Gatehouse, or simply watching the free-roaming deer and wildlife in the parkland.
“We’re thrilled to be able to host Warwickshire Open Studios for this event as art and creativity have a special place at Charlecote Park, which has been home to the Lucy family for more than nine centuries. The late Edmund Fairfax Lucy was an accomplished artist who often painted the landscape around his home at Charlecote. Two of his paintings hang in the drawing room for visitors to see.”
Janette George, Warwickshire Open Studios Director, added: “Plein Air events allow artists to get inspired out of their normal settings, providing a popular opportunity to share their creativity and skills with members of the public and also network with the other artists.
“We’re excited to see what our artists will create in one day at this beautiful location in rural Warwickshire, and look forward to welcoming visitors to engage with our artists too.”
