A CHINESE city has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to Warwick Hospital

The city of Meishan in Sichuan Province, which has close culural links with Stratford district, has given the PPE for use by NHS staff treating coronavirus patients at the hopsital and across the community.

The city’s civic leaders of the city donated 25,000 masks and 200 disposable protective suits. All the equipment has passed the necessary requirements and regulations that all PPE must do before staff are able to use it.

Stratford District Council chairman Christopher Kettle said: “We are very grateful to our friends in Meishan, China for this very supportive offer during our current health crisis.”

Glen Burley, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust chief executive was equally delighted.

He said: “I want to say a huge thank you to Meishan for their generous donation of personal protective equipment in such a crucial time for the NHS.

“With their support, we are able to continue providing essential care to our patients in hospital and in the community, while keeping them and our staff safe during these unprecedented times.

“We are extremely grateful and would like to also thank Stratford District Council for their support.”
