Christmas events round up: November 27 - December 4

THE CHRISTMAS lights are set to be switched on in Kenilworth on Friday (November 27).

The festivities will include a street market, fair, live entertainment from the cast of the Priory Theatre’s pantomime Beauty and Beast, and a Michael Bublé tribute act.

Touch FM will be on stage by the clock tower on Warwick Road from 5pm with a host of giveaways and games before the 7pm switch-on.

And Old Town will be hosting its own switch-on event on High Street the following week.




Kenilworth mayor Michael Coker will flip the switch alongside carnival queen Imogen Costello from 6.30pm on Friday (December 4).

SANTA’S four-legged friends at the Guide Dogs are getting in the festive spirit.


A Christmas Fair, at the charity’s Leamington training centre on Warwick New Road on Sunday (November 29), will offer the chance to buy cards, gifts, and there will also be a raffle, tombola, refreshments and Santa’s Grotto.

The kennels will also be open during the fair which runs from 10.30am to 3pm, offering visitors the chance to look around and have a photo taken with the dogs.

PENSIONERS can enjoy a free festive refreshments next week at Morrisons in Leamington.

The Old Warwick Road supermarket will be welcoming senior citizens between 2.30pm and 5pm on Tuesday (December 1) for a hot drink and mince pie in the cafe.

General manager Mike Toth said: “We’re very grateful of our loyal customers and this is just intended to be a small token to show our appreciation ahead of Christmas. We look forward to seeing some very familiar faces.”

AUDLEY Binswood host Christmas Fair will take place on Thursday December 3.

The retirement home’s fair will feature gift stalls, mince pies and mulled wine from noon to 7pm. All welcome.

SANTA Claus will be in Southam for the Christmas lights switch-on Friday December 4.

The fun gets underway at 4.30pm and will include a fair, stalls and festive music from St James Primary School and Southam Combined Churches choirs. Santa will join DJ Bob Brolly and Mayor Jason Ward to light up to town’s streets at 6pm.

Santa will also return in his sleigh to help the Southam Lions collect donations around the town and surrounding villages in December. Visit www.southamlions.org.uk for details of Santa’s route.

THE FESTIVE season is in full swing at St Mary’s Church in Warwick where the Christmas trees are already up.

Community groups and businesses have once again decorated their own trees in the church, and visitors can vote for their favourite.

There will also be a number of festive events at the church, including the chance to meet Santa from 10.30am on Saturday (November 27).

And on Saturday December 5 there will be a performance from the Family Service Children’s Choir along with a hand bell ringing demonstration and a visit from Warwick mayor Mandy Littlejohn.

NATIVITY sets from around the world are set to go on display at Abbey Hill United Reformed Church in Kenilworth.

More than 100 sets will feature in the exhibition which runs between Tuesday (December 1) and Sunday December 6 from 2pm to 5pm.

The displays feature traditional nativity scenes along with offerings from across the globe, including a set from South America featuring llamas and a one from Mexico made from a tin plate.

Entry to the exhibition is free and refreshments are available.

ST John the Baptist Church Leamington hosts Christmas Fair on Saturday (November 28).

There will be stalls, fun and games, and a visit from Santa between 11am and 1pm at the Tachbrook Street church.

THE BELLS of St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Church in Lillington will ring out to mark the opening of its Christmas Fair on Saturday December 5.

Gift stalls, a tombola, tea, cakes and hot food will be available from 1pm to 3.30pm, and and Santa will also be dropping bin at the Vicarage Road church. Admission is free.

LILLINGTON Free Church is holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday December 5.

Tombola, cakes, and fancy goods, will be on offer at the Cubbington Road church from 11am to 1pm. Admission is £1 to include refreshments.
