Christmas lights switch on in Leamington and Warwick to kick off festive season

THE FESTIVE season in Leamington officially gets underway this weekend with the Christmas lights switch-on.

The Parade will host a market full of gifts and food from 11am on Sunday (November 20).

Live music and performances will then take to the stage at 1pm to start the count down to the Christmas lights being switched on at 5pm.

And creative youngsters will have their pantomime costume designs brought to life.




In celebration of the Leamington Spa Centre’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, have been designing their own costume ideas for the production.

The winning designs are being made up by art students at Warwickshire College and will be showcased at 4.50pm just before the lights are switched on.

The annual Christmas Tree Festival kicks off next week alongside the town’s light switch on and Victorian Evening on Thursday November 24.

People can vote for their favourite tree in the festive line up which have been decorated by community groups and businesses until December 4.

There will also be a number of festive events at the church, including youngsters singing Christmas songs in a free concert from 10am on November 25 and the Tell Tale Theatre Company will be perform ‘A Victorian Christmas’ from 7.30 pm on November 26.

Youngsters will have the chance to meet Santa from 10.30am on December 3 and at 7pm Leamington’s own Sing It Loud choir will be performing a concert in aid of Parkinson’s disease.
