Clopton Bridge in Stratford partially closed following collision

CLOPTON Bridge in Stratford is partially shut following a collision.

A three metre section of the bridge, which separates the road from the pavement, has been knocked down.

And as a result, one lane of the bridge – from the town heading south of the river – has been closed, along with the pedestrian walkway.

Traffic can still cross the bridge from the Banbury Road heading into the town.

Warwickshire Police anticipated the bridge would be partially closed for the remainder of today (Thursday).

A spokesperson added: “Commuters and motorists are advised to plan their route and avoid the area where possible, allowing for extra time, as traffic in and around Stratford is anticipated to be extremely busy as a result of this closure.

“Thank you for your patience.”
