Colleagues prepare to pound pavements of Vienna for vulnerable people in Leamington

WORK colleagues are preparing to pound the pavements of Vienna – to raise money for vulnerable people in Leamington.

Jason Strain, Anthony Baynham and Ian Chetwynd from Leamington-based Harrison Beale and Owen (HB&O) Financial Services, along with Dave Stokes, will be taking to the streets of the Austrian capital on April 23.

Jason and Anthony are running the full Vienna City Marathon, taking in 26.2 miles, while Ian and Dave are participating in the Vienna City Half Marathon, which attracts runners from 130 countries.

The group have set themselves a target of £2,000, with all of the proceeds going to local charity Helping Hands via HB&O Financial Services’ official charity partner the Heart of England Community Foundation (HOECF).

The decision to run in Vienna came about after the group were unsuccessful securing entry to the London Marathon, but determined not to be outdone in their fundraising quest, they found an alternative challenge on the same day.

Jason Strain, managing director at HB&O Financial Services, is hoping the money raised will significantly help one of the town’s serious issues.

He said: “We live and work in this area and as you wander around Leamington it does look like homelessness is increasing, so we want to be able to help charities to do the right thing for them whether it’s providing shelter, food or helping them back into work.

“Helping Hands is a charity that is close to home, and every penny we raise will go directly to them.”
