Community spirit celebrated at Kingsley School

Leamington Editorial 1st May, 2024   0

THE KINGSLEY School recently held the Community Spirit Awards in collaboration with the Royal Leamington Spa Rotary Club.

The school values the contributions that students and staff make to both the school community and the community, and the awards evening was a display of the Kingsley community coming together in unison to celebrate the work of some unsung heroes.

The awardees were Calvin Blayney, Gilly Dale, Helen Foster Hall, Abi Heath, Ann Jones, Rachel Ollerenshaw, Tony Stokes and Merleen Watson.

A school spokesperson said: “Each attendee was wholly deserving of their awards – their commitment to serving the community, spanning decades, has had significant positive social impact and has rightly been celebrated.

“At The Kingsley School, we aim to nurture the development of skills such as kindness, compassion and benevolence – characterised by our partnerships, such as with Helping Hands and Kissing it Better, but also through the Kingsley culture that we live daily.

“We are immensely proud of the fact that our students have already raised over £2,000 for Leukaemia UK this year; the Sixth Form leadership team hosted the Rose Ball in November; and the students in the Prep School held a wonderful Harvest Food Festival service at Holy Trinity Church in order to donate food to the Trussell Trust Food Bank Appeal.

“By becoming more aware of the wonderful service that has been undertaken by yesterday evening’s awardees, we hope that our pupils are also inspired to continue to enhance the lives of others and contribute to the civic good – whether that be through volunteering, charity work or community service more generally.”

Chairman of Warwick District Council Sidney Syson and Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western also attended the celebration evening.
