Count starts for seats on Warwick District Council

Leamington Editorial 9th May, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE COUNT for the 46 available seats on Warwick District Council has begun.

Residents went to the polls on Thursday to cast their vote in the parliamentary, district and parish council elections and in the early afternoon it was announced that Conservative candidate Chris White had retained his seat as Warwick and Leamington’s MP with 47.9 per cent (24,429) of the votes.

But the focus has now switched to the district council with results expected around noon today (Saturday).

As many as 171 candidates have put their hat in the ring to contest the 46 seats across 22 wards.

The Conservatives held 25 seats at the previous District Council elections but this number is expected to rise.
