Coventry and Warwickshire Culture and Tourism Awards - shortlist

Leamington Editorial 14th Aug, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE SHORTLIST for the first Coventry and Warwickshire Culture and Tourism Awards has been released.

The event is being organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and Quidem, which owns Touch FM stations and Rugby FM, and will be hosted at the Ricoh Arena on Thursday September 24.

Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council are also supporting the awards, which will showcase the diverse attractions, venues and experiences on offer in the region.

Up to five nominees have been shortlisted for each of the 13 awards on offer, which promote the area’s best restaurants, hotels, attractions and experiences and the people behind them.

Among the titles up for grabs are The Bright Idea Award, Kids & Families Award, History and Heritage Award, Customer Service Award and Tourism Event of the Year.

Angela Tellyn, partnership manager at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The awards are a really exciting opportunity for businesses in the area to shout about their world-class achievements and services.

“Coventry and Warwickshire has a plethora of arts, culture, heritage and leisure destinations to visit and it is about time we shone a spotlight on them and celebrated them for making the region the special place to visit that it is.

“The calibre for entries has been excellent and shortlisting the nominees was a tough decision but the judging team has chosen those which we believe best reflect the area and its rich culture, history and heritage.”

Steve Orchard, of Quidem, said: “We were aiming high, yet this field of entries has exceeded even our lofty ambitions. The list of organisations competing for an award is diverse, it is high in quality, and it is very long: a testament to the importance of culture and tourism to our region’s economy.”
