Creative free sessions for people with dementia in Rugby and Kenilworth

Leamington Editorial 13th Jun, 2022   0

CREATIVE free programmes for people with dementia and their carers start in Rugby and Kenilworth this week.

Arts and Crafts in Rugby with Jessica runs for six weeks from June 16, with session from 2pm to 3.30pm at Rugby Art Gallery in Little Elborow Street.

The light-hearted, relaxed sessions are designed to boost confidence and to stimulate the mind and senses. There is also plenty of time for tea and chat. Absolutely no previous experience is required to take part, everyone is welcome, and all activities can be adapted to suit needs. Participants do not need a diagnosis of dementia to take part. Each week is a different theme such as holidays, going out and celebrations.

The programme includes painting, printing, and mobile and collage making with as much help and guidance as you need.

Storytelling in Kenilworth with Nicky Bellenger also runs for six week from June 16, with sessions from 11am to 12.30pm at Kenilworth Library in Smalley Place.

The workshops will look to create a story together, using photos, pictures and music, with a different theme each week.

The workshops include activities to carry on at home. All are free of charge thanks to funding from Warwickshire County Council, with refreshments provided.
