CROCUSES which brighten up Warwick bus station have another more important job – helping the fight to eradicate a devastating disease.
Warwick Rotary Club planted the crocus bulbs to represent its ‘Purple for Polio’ campaign. Funds raised from buying the bulbs goes towards funding polio vaccines for children across the world – which has helped wipe out the disease from all but three countries including Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Purple was chosen as it is the colour of a child’s finger showing they have received the vaccine.
