MORE than 1,000 cub scouts in Warwickshire are gathering to celebrate the organisation’s 100th birthday.
Around 400 volunteers are set to be joined by 1,200 cub scouts for a county camp at the Heart of England Park near Meriden on Friday and Saturday (June 17 and 18).
Spending two nights under canvas, the eight to 11 year olds will try everything from rock climbing to code breaking and archery to kayaking.
Since its inception in 1916, cub scouts has made a huge impact on communities with 400,000 young people being involved in the organisation across the UK.
