Damselflies take a liking to Leamington's Jephson Gardens

DAMSELFLIES have taken a liking to Jephson Gardens.

Debbie Lawson recently noticed a large number of them in the ever-popular Leamington park – and took this wonderfully detailed photograph of one of them.

Damselflies are similar to dragonflies but are smaller, have slimmer bodies, and most species fold the wings along the body when at rest.

In Great Britain and Ireland there are about 20 species of damselflies. When winged they live for only a matter of weeks or months depending on the species.
