THE DATES for the Commonwealth Games events in Leamington and Warwick have been announced.
Birmingham 2022 has revealed Lawn and Para Bowls will take place from Friday July 29 to Saturday August 6 at Victoria Park in Leamington.
The start and finish for the cycling road races will take place in St Nicholas Park in Warwick on Sunday 7 August.
The new schedule has been finalised following conversations with partners, international federations and broadcasters.
Bowls England High Performance Director John McGuinness said: “The home Commonwealth Games provides us with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase our sport and we are delighted that the lawn and para bowls events will be staged at Victoria Park, the home of English bowls.
“Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the England High Performance Squad have been making progress on a number of initiatives, involving sports science, tactical planning, team building and mentoring, coaching and wellbeing. The unveiling of the schedule marks another important milestone as we look towards the Games in 2022.”
Warwick District Council culture spokesman Jan Matecki added: “We are delighted to be welcoming visitors to our district for ten out of the twelve days of the Commonwealth Games to enjoy watching some of the world’s best lawn and para bowlers and cyclists at venues within two of our beautiful parks”.
