DISGUSTED council workers today discovered faeces smeared across toilet walls in Leamington.
Warwick District Council closed toilets temporarily at St Nicholas Park and Victoria Park after cleaners discovered the ‘graphic’ scene, as well as a raw chicken stuffed against a window in the latter.
On its social media page a post read: “Here we are again, having to close the toilets as our cleaners, our #WDHeroes, have once again been met with a disgusting sight which this time is too graphic to show.
“At St Nicholas Park, all of the toilet paper has been stuffed down the toilet causing a deliberate blockage, and faeces has been smeared all over the walls.
“At Victoria Park, a raw chicken – yes, a raw chicken – has been stuffed between the window and shutters, with the packaging now blocking the toilet.”
The cleaners are using covid-compliant chemicals to carry out extensive cleaning of the toilets. The post described the incident as ‘cruel’ since it meant the workers were at risk being out and about.
It went on to acknowledge ‘the vast majority of people’ were respectful and the perpetrators would probably not even see the post.
The council is urging people to help the crews by reporting issues, and to find another bin if the immediate one is full. Full bins can also be reported via the council’s website.
A video has also been put together entitled ‘Don’t be a Tosser’ involving residents, businessowners, staff, contractors and councillors including WDC leader Andrew Day. It comes after a severe increase in littering throughout the pandemic.
