DOGS Trust received a tasty supply of treats after lockdown left a local insurer with thousands of biscuits it could not use.
Stratford-based NFU Mutual usually hands out dog treats at its show stands, but after the pandemic forced events to be cancelled it had nearly 100 bags of biscuits it could not use and thousands of treats.
Staff donated the supplies to Dogs Trust centres in Kenilworth and Evesham, where canine carers were been classed as ‘key workers’ and continued to care for the dogs throughout the outbreak.
NFU Mutual spokeswoman Beth Pritchard said: “With Covid 19 forcing organisations to cancel their usual fundraising events, NFU Mutual has been looking for ways to help local charities and communities stay strong and resilient across the UK at this time. We’re so pleased to have been able to support The Dogs Trust with this donation, as well as preventing waste from our cancelled shows.”
