Driver shortage suspends green bin collections in Warwick district

GREEN bin collections in Warwick district are set to be suspended.

Warwick District Council (WDC) has announced the postponement of the service next week, from Monday October 25 to Wednesday 29, due to driver shortages.

Refuse and recycling services will continue as normal.

Residents due to have their green waste collected during this period are asked to put their bin out for their next scheduled service – the week beginning November 8.

WDC’s environmental spokesperson Coun Alan Rhead said: “Along with other areas in the country our waste services contractor is finding the shortage of HGV drivers is affecting its collection services. Under these circumstances we have agreed that priority must be given to the main waste and recycling collections for good public health and safety reasons.”

Although services should return the week beginning November 1, any resident with excess green waste is advised to use their nearest recycling centre in Leamington or Kenilworth.
